Wonderful hospitality, warmth and personal touches, beautiful cooking, welcoming fires, hot deep baths and soft thick towels.J & J, Wirral
Broomlands luxury B&B is the ideal base for Wolsey Lodge guests visiting the Lake District National Park. This delightful Victorian B&B, with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, nestles in the Vale of Lorton; a relatively undiscovered valley situated between Cockermouth and Buttermere.
With Alison’s keen eye for detail and a careful balance of original Victorian features blended with antiques, bold colour schemes and contemporary touches, this lovingly restored luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) offers guests a truly warm welcome.
Log fires in winter or an airy garden room or outdoor terrace in warmer weather, provide the perfect setting for B&B guests to appreciate afternoon tea on arrival, with delicious home-made cake. Bernard’s breakfasts include locally sourced ingredients like traditional Cumberland sausage and black pudding or perhaps smoked salmon and scrambled free-range eggs.
Luxurious guest accommodation is provided, with all three bedrooms having individually designed en suite bathrooms (one with romantic double-ended slipper bath), king size beds, luxury bedding, towels, bathrobes and slippers, as well as indulgent toiletries.
The one acre garden is separated into ‘rooms’, each well established and with ample seating areas for guests to enjoy the stunning scenery and views, which change with the light as the day progresses. Secure storage is available for bicycles.
Your B&B Hosts
Alison and Bernard both ran their own businesses but are now semi-retired. Sharing a passion for fell walking; Bernard enjoys mountain biking and fell running, while Alison has her own horse and is a keen rider. Bernard is the chef and they both love entertaining their B&B guests; delighting in meeting new people and sharing with them their thorough knowledge of the local area, walking and cycle routes. They are happy to provide packed lunches on request.
The Location
Broomlands is located 4 miles south of the market town of Cockermouth and six miles north of Buttermere and boasts five lakes within eight miles – ideal for B&B guests to enjoy spectacular scenery and unspoilt landscapes
