Cook House is situated in the historic village of Levens in Cumbria overlooking Morecambe Bay and the Kent estuary, which together form a dramatically changing backdrop to this most beautiful luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation. As its name implies, the house was formerly a cook house for weary travellers making their way across the valley. Charmingly typical of this beautiful area, Cook House is a perfectly located Wolsey Lodge for exploring the Southern lakes of the Lake District as well as a convenient stop off on the way to Scotland.
Wolsey Lodge B&B guests’ arrival in Cumbria will be marked with afternoon tea in the conservatory, garden terrace or when the weather is inclement, beside a cosy fire in the drawing room. Lucy has made this house into a most comfortable base for her bed and breakfast guests -light and sunny and furnished with fine art, furniture and family photographs.
Guest accommodation is very comfortable and offers every luxury for guests, one bedroom has an adjoining spacious modern bathroom, the other an en suite. Both overlook a rose and box garden, which is just one part of the pretty gardens surrounding Cook House, all of which have been designed by Lucy.
Your B&B Hosts
Lucy grew up in the nearby family home of Levens Hall which is now run by her nephew. Generations of talented family artists precede Lucy and she herself is a talented water-colourist, professional photographer and flower arranger and is locally recognised for her garden designing.
Levens is a pretty village just 4 miles from Kendal. Close by and open to the visitors is the Elizabethan family home of Levens Hall with its worldwide famous topiary garden. Sizergh Castle, Holker Hall and Leighton Hall are all close by. The damson blossom in the Lyth Valley in Spring is worth a visit, and of course the delights of the Lake District are on the doorstep.
