Located on the quieter side of Lake Windermere in four acres of glorious grounds, including spectacular topiary, leading to the lakeside, this is a fabulous Grade II listed 16th century luxury country house in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It boasts historical charm yet every comfort a 21st century traveller could desire.
Low Graythwaite Hall boasts historical charm yet every comfort for a 21st century traveller. Oak panelling, ancient beams aawait downstairs and crooked staircases lead to the magnificent bedrooms. Wolsey Lodge guests can relax in front of a roaring log fire in winter or enjoy the garden in summer. An indoor pool and gym on the nearby estate are also available for Wolsey Lodge B&B guests to use. Each bedroom is individually furnished, with antiques complementing stylish, sometimes quirky, contemporary touches like the extraordinary four poster bed made from reclaimed beams. As to be expected at a Wolsey Lodge luxury B&B, everything is premium quality, accessorised beautifully and offers all home comforts. The ancient ‘powder closets’ are now wardrobes, leaded windows overlooking the gardens where deer graze in the early mornings, window seats …each room has something special to offer.
Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room overlooking the grounds. Homemade granola, 'home grown’ eggs and locally sourced ingredients will set you up for the day. Superb home-cooked evening meals are available by prior arrangement.
Your B&B Hosts
Amanda and David moved to Cumbria a few years ago from Harrogate. Amanda is a Cordon Bleu trained B&B host and her food is superb. She loves sharing their wonderful historic B&B home with guests and nothing is too much trouble. Their three children have now left home and she spends any spare time cooking, walking, riding and gardening. David is a keen golfer.
An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Lake District National Park offers lots to see and do. Being close to Grizedale Forest there are outdoor activities for all age groups and interests, from walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, pony trekking to more extreme sports. Beatrix Potter fans and foodies are well catered for and the historic village of Hawkshead is easily accessible. Historic houses, gardens, museums and much, much more await.
