Nestling in the unspoilt, lovely and relatively unknown Coly Valley in the heart of East Devon is this superb late Georgian luxury B&B, home of the aptly named Guest family who offer the warmest of welcomes to their Wolsey Lodge guests. At the end of a sweeping drive and surrounded by mature gardens with panoramic views of the gorgeous landscape and its own 15 acres, this Wolsey Lodge also offers use of a the outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis court.
The house itself is furnished with interesting pictures, paintings and mementos gleaned while travelling the world. B&B visitors can use the elegant drawing room with garden views or the cosy upstairs sitting/television room and the lovely conservatory with its ancient vine.
There are three comfortable, classically furnished and elegant bedrooms – all with en suite bathrooms - one being a family room.
Your B&B Hosts
Both have extensive hospitality experience and it shows. They share a love of good food and wine and Emma is an excellent chef having catered professionally for many years. They met while working on yachts and Chuck is a master mariner with extensive experience captaining super yachts. As their three sons have now left home they decided to make Glebe House a bed and breakfast as chartering ashore would be fun!
The Coly valley is one of the main tributary valleys of the River Axe in East Devon. It is the ideal place to relax and unwind, yet is well placed for visiting the Jurassic Coast, the Coastal Path through the old fishing and smuggling towns of Beer and Branscombe, Honiton with its antiques and markets, or the cathedral city of Exeter. There is much to do and see for families, walkers or those wanting a more cultural break. For visitors en route to Cornwall it is a delightful spot for an overnight stay but it is even better for the perfect country weekend escape.
