The Bassetts will greet you with a warm Anglo-American welcome, ably assisted by Bonnie the Dog, as you arrive at this beautifully restored Grade II listed thatched Norfolk farmhouse that offers luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation. The interior is light, the inglenook fireplace offers the opportunity for warm fires on cold winter evenings, and the conservatory offers a place to enjoy the gardens and birds in all seasons while eating breakfast, sipping tea or enjoying pre-dinner drinks. It is a well-loved home, a perfect place to share warm hospitality, friendship and good food.
The three B&B en suite bedrooms on the first floor (Rossini, Vivaldi and Verdi) are named for composers as befits the home of two musicians. All have fine views of the old flint St Nicholas Church. Both the Bassetts are avid cooks who especially enjoy dining with their guests by candlelight, and sharing with them inventive food using the best of the local ingredients available. The food and décor of the house are both enhanced by their travel experiences in many lands.
The garden at Church Farm House is just under an acre, with two ponds to enhance its charm. Richard prides himself on the changing seasonal displays that the garden offers. Especially colourful are the many varieties of spring tulips, the brilliant summer begonias, late summer dahlias and the hanging baskets filled with winter pansies. The patio, gazebo, swing and hammock all offer B&B guests comfortable outdoor seating.
Your B&B Hosts
Richard and Georgia Bassett originally came to England to teach music. After their international teaching career, they moved to North Lopham where they enjoy sharing life in the countryside with their B&B guests. Church Farm House is also the headquarters for The Association for Music in International Schools, an international music charity which they founded.
Church Farm House is well situated luxury B&B in the village of North Lopham, ideal for visits to Norwich, Bury St. Edmunds, the Suffolk heritage coast, the North Norfolk coast, the Broads and a host of National Trust houses and gardens
