Chipperkyle is a rather unique gem amongst the country houses of Scotland and a real treat for guests looking for luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation. It is a wonderful Georgian Grade B listed Lairds House set in rolling farmland, complete with washhouses and stable courtyard at the back. Your hosts, Willie and Catriona, are justifiably proud of their family home and go to great lengths to make their B&B guests feel welcome, serving tea and ‘something homemade' on arrival.
Inside, the light and airy rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, all set against a backdrop of magnificent views in all directions. The B&B accommodation has a double bedroom that is comfortable and luxurious with a large en suite bathroom whilst the twin room has its own private bathroom just one step away. Both luxury bedrooms are furnished with gorgeous white bed linen and the bathrooms with soft, fluffy towels.
Outside there is a large garden with lawns, shrubs and mature trees to walk around, a tennis court in the old kitchen garden and the surrounding fields are home to cattle, sheep, donkeys, pet lambs and the hens that provide the eggs for beakfast. With outdoor sitting areas, guests are invited to enjoy the wonderful, big, often starlit skies, listen to the enchanting bird song and to simply sit back and indulge in total relaxation in this rather special area of Scotland.
Your B&B Hosts
Willie and Catriona Dickson are your B&B hosts at Chipperkyle and they are a most hospitable and welcoming couple. Catriona pays special attention to every detail to make your stay at this B&B accommodation especially enjoyable, and Willie has a wealth of knowledge about Scotland and the local area that makes all the difference to making the most of their wonderful location in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway.
Chipperkyle is located at Kirkpatrick Durham, close to Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway. This part of Scotland is a wonderful area for walking and cycling, top class golf courses, fishing on lochs and rivers, wildlife and bird watching. Nearby, Kirkcudbright is a well known artists town, whilst Wigtown, like Hay-on-Wye, is a great book centre. Catriona will be able to advise you on the best gardens and museums to visit and there are historic castles and houses to discover and beautiful countryside to explore.
