Nestled within a stones throw of lush green woodland, this Wolsey Lodge is a real haven of luxury near the Scottish Borders. The B&B itself sits imposingly at the end of a lovely private drive, just off the A7, surrounded by stunning countryside giving it a postcard worthy setting.
Crookston House was built in 1816 for John Borthwick, the 13th of Crookston and has been in the family ever since. This family home is a treasure trove of history, heirlooms and antiques from top to bottom, many of which can be found in the ante sitting room, where all guests are encouraged to relax during their stay.
Upon arrival, expect to be warmly greeted with refreshments and a homemade selection of delights. Each of the three guest rooms is airy, spacious and individually decorated with stunning views to match. The surrounding gardens are particularly attractive and well worth taking the time to walk and explore. To start your day right, enjoy a breakfast in the dining room, which is a charming mix of self serve and cooked options, with eggs from their own hens and locally sourced produce.
Your B&B Hosts
Georgina and Malcolm reside at Crookston House, with their two young boys. As new hosts they have taken to it with flair and gusto. Georgina herself has a background in cooking, estate management and wine whilst her husband works in real estate in Edinburgh. Her parents also reside in the property and are wonderful hosts themselves – so it really is two for the price of one!
Heriot is a small village, located in the Moorfoot Hills just shy of the beautiful Edinburgh. The Scottish Borders is a lovely part of the country full of moorlands, rolling hills and the River Tweed but it is also rich in history and activities. Ideal for those wishing to enjoy a mix of quaint market towns, historic homes, walking, hiking, golf and more. There is local transport to and from Edinburgh and the surrounding towns, but this area is best enjoyed by car.
