Pool House is a spectacular Highland retreat on the shores of Loch Ewe, dating from the 18th century it is steeped in history and has a nautical theme throughout. The location provides stunning views of not only the Loch, but also where the river meets the sea. It is the perfect luxury B&B retreat and has attracted many celebrities. This luxury Wolsey Lodge in Poolewe, Ross-shire is lovingly run by two generations of the Harrison family.

The large suites at this exceptional Wolsey Lodge, each named after a WWII warship, comprise a large bedroom, en suite bathroom and sitting room. A balcony overlooking the sea and river, a rare glass canopied Edwardian bathing machine, a seven foot four poster bed or a real fire are just a few examples of what is offered at this luxury B&B.

Superb breakfasts and a set four course dinner (by arrangement) are served in the dining room which is situated only a few feet from the sea and enjoys spectacular views. Most ingredients come from within a 10 mile radius and include hand-dived scallops and crab from Loch Ewe and venison from the local estate.

Your B&B Hosts

With 60 years hospitality experience the Harrison parents welcome their guests but have handed the reins for running Pool House to their daughters Elizabeth & Mhairi. This notable family can trace its roots back 1000 years and is related to the actor John Wayne and the captain of the ill-fated Titanic.

The Location

Poolewe is located in the centre of Wester Ross. To the north lies Ullapool, the ferry terminal serving Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides and to the south, Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye. Five hours drive from Edinburgh or Glasgow and only 90 minutes from Inverness. Plenty to do here with walking, fishing, sandy beaches, breath-taking sunsets, and seal spotting . Fabulous gardens (Inverewe and Attadale), museums and nature reserves.
