From the moment Wolsey Lodges guests arrive and drive through the parkland with its abundance of oaks and views across St Mellion to Saltash and Dartmoor beyond, to discovering the perfectly sumptuous guest accommodation, gardens and dining that await you, it is quite possible you could wish to lose yourself here and never leave.
The castle started life as a grand formal house in 1698 and was gradually enlarged and used for different purposes throughout the following centuries before it was inherited and restored by your hosts Ted and Sarah Coryton. Almost 60 acres of park, woodland and garden surround the castle including a heated outdoor pool and an American garden abundant with rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias and azaleas. Inside, large though the accommodation is, there is a welcoming, homely feel for their B&B guests, overlaid with an unmistakable historic grandeur.
Each bed and breakfast guest room is a perfect example of luxury comfortable and spacious with en suite bathrooms to match, thoughtfully filled with scented toiletries. Breakfast and dinner are served in the atmospheric setting of the dining hall which in the evening twinkles with candle and fire light. Pentillie Castle is unlike any other Wolsey Lodge and a real treasure to visit.
