Capheaton Hall No. 60 (8952)
History and tranquillity are at the heart of this luxury Wolsey Lodge bed and breakfast B&B accommodation at Capheaton Hall, a truly special place to stay whilst you explore the many treasures of this beautiful part of Northumberland. Dating back to 1668, it’s baroque beauty was later enhanced with Georgian additions, which is how Wolsey Lodge B&B guests find it today.

The Swinburne family have played an important role in this area of Northumberland since the 12th century. Eliza and Will Browne-Swinburne took over in 2008 and set about renovations to open this fascinating home to B&B guests visiting Northumberland and looking for a touch of luxury. The wooded driveway leads you to the impressive Georgian north front courtyard before you enter the East Wing where the family live and welcome guests. The rest of the house is only opened occasionally for tours, so privacy and seclusion are assured.

Tea and delicious cake await your arrival here in Northumberland and, as Eliza is a most excellent and inventive cook, will help provide you with a taster for the fine food you will enjoy during your time here. Antiques and comfortable furnishings in the drawing and dining room sit alongside ancestral portraits whilst in contrast there is a stunningly modern kitchen.

This B&B accommodation features one en suite double guest room and a double with private bathroom. Outside, the large walled garden, lovingly tended by Eliza provides much of the household vegetables and fruit. Beyond this the parkland and woodland extend down to the nearby lake.
