Essendy House No. 124 (9918)
Just beyond Perth, at the southern tip of a string of lochs, sits Essendy House, a luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation bolthole for weary travellers and a haven for wildlife lovers. Home to Tess and John Monteith, Essendy House offers quiet comfort, seclusion and relaxation in abundance and yet close by in the Blairgowrie area there is much to see and do. Dating back to 1715 with more modern additions, this white-washed country house is surrounded by rich gardens, farmland and the Pertshire countryside beyond.

The B&B accommodation includes a guest sitting room which offers a relaxing haven at the end of the day whilst the conservatory leading on to the terrace is a welcoming retreat on warm days. The luxury bedrooms and bathrooms are supremely comfortable and attractive with antique furniture, wonderful linen and toiletries. The views from the windows are sure to lure you outside where mature trees, azaleas and rhododendrons are in abundance and all around are dramatic hill views that only Scotland can offer.

Highland hospitality dictates a generous and hearty breakfast which Wolsey Lodge guests will truly appreciate. Served in the elegant dining room or on the terrace to set you up for a days exploring the many castles and lochs, including perhaps the renowned Loch of the Lowes, famous for its Osprey population.

Your Hosts
Tess and John Monteith are your hosts in this lovely part of Scotland. Tess was a Lloyds broker and is now an artist who is pleased to offer guidance to guests if they feel like painting whilst visiting Perthshire. John completed a career in the Army and plans to build boats. They enjoy the mountains of Europe and have chalets in the Alps where they spend part of the year.

The Location
Essendy House B&B is located at Blairgowrie in Perthshire. Between April and September in Scotland you have the opportunity to see the Ospreys and on fine days take an energetic hike up Birnam Hill, famed for its link to Macbeth. Fishing, shooting and golf are well catered for and the town of Dunkeld boasts a fine cathedral. Glamis and Blair Atholl Castles are close by and in winter there is skiing at Glenshee (40 minutes away).
