Sitting beneath the towering South Downs, Tovey Lodge and its three acres of secluded well tended gardens is the perfect base for exploring all that this area of Sussex has to offer. Renovations to the house by your hosts Roy and Diane Burman and earlier owners, have combined to create a comfortable home with a choice of guest rooms all offering modern conveniences and wonderful levels of comfort.

Three spacious bedrooms on the first floor all have their own sitting areas with amazing views over the surrounding countryside, whilst downstairs there are two smaller bedrooms. The rooms all have luxurious en suite facilities and guests have their own sitting room with a comforting wood burning stove where you can relax with the television and an array of books, magazines and DVDs to enjoy.

To complete your stay you may also like to take a dip in the heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and hot tub, especially welcome at the end of a long day’s walking. Breakfast is a feast of fruit, cereals and juices followed by traditional full English fare using local sausages and bacon and eggs from the resident hens.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Roy is a retired businessman and Diane a retired fashion designer who, as well as welcoming guests into their home, also own a pub and two lighting shops in nearby Brighton which are run by their sons. Their friendly, quiet manner ensures guests have a peaceful stay with every comfort catered for from the beginning to the end of their stay.

The Location

Despite its size, Ditchling village has a museum, shops and pubs and the Stoneywish Nature Reserve, a vineyard and craft centre. Close by the South Downs offer a walker’s paradise walking whilst several national trust properties, Lewes, Brighton and Glyndebourne all await exploration.

From A23 take A273 at Pycombe signed Hassocks for 1.5 miles. Left into B2112 - New Road signed Ditchling for 1.8 miles. Just after Ditchling sign, road bears left turn right into Beacon Road signed Ditchling Beacon & Brighton for 0.8 miles. Turn left into Underhill Lane. Take first driveway on left after 100 yards into Tovey Lodge. Please use intercom on third post so we can welcome you and open gate.
