Great Weddington
Lodge No 45
Two ancient, Oriental plane trees stand guard at the entrance to the drive and a majestic Holm Oak dominates the lawn at Great Weddington, a Regency Grade II listed country house, sitting in splendour in a beautiful English country garden.
Built around 1835 by a master brewer of ginger beer, the classically proportioned house exudes comfort and warmth. The drawing room is mellow and relaxing and leads onto a beautiful stone terrace overlooking the garden. Terracotta book-cloth covers the walls in the dining room, which creates a richly atmospheric backdrop for dinner.
An elegant staircase leads past a stunning arched window to the galleried first floor where there are two spacious and light double or twin bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms and showers. The Garden Room on the ground floor, also with its own bath and shower, opens onto the herb garden

Kate and Neil love welcoming guests to their home. Trained at Constance Spry, Kate is one of the resident flower arrangers at Canterbury Cathedral and is also a keen gardener. Neil, after many years in the steel industry, runs his own business - a mail order Audio Book Library. He also plays golf at Sandwich and tries to improve his bridge during the winter!

Canterbury Cathedral draws visitors from across the globe. Worth exploring, too, are Dover and Walmer castles; the ruins of the Roman Fort at Richborough; wonderful gardens at Goodnestone Park; and John Aspinall's Howletts Wildlife Park. Dover is 20 minutes away, so day trips to France are simple.
