Old Whyly
Lodge No 82
Sweep down the long drive to the mellow, 17th century listed Grade II manor house where a warm welcome awaits you. Here, elegant reception rooms filled with lovely antiques, pictures and flowers, create a relaxing country retreat. Individually decorated bedrooms with fine linen add to the serene atmosphere.
Old Whyly is a place for all seasons. In the spring, the garden comes to life with rhododendrons, azaleas, daffodils and tulips creating a blaze of colour. You can play tennis on the hard court or laze by the secluded swimming pool.
The lily scented terrace, with its rose covered pergola, is well used on sunny days and warm summer evenings, as is the drawing room with the blazing fire in winter. You can also enjoy lovely walks through the adjoining private estate at any time of year.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
One of the highlights of staying at Old Whyly is the dining experience. Having studied cooking and flower arranging in Paris and London, Sarah is a passionate cook. She enjoys using home grown produce wherever possible, with eggs laid by her prize winning hens and ducks, and honey from the bees in the orchard.
The Location
Old Whyly is the perfect place to stay for the Glyndebourne opera festival, being less than 10 minutes away. There are many historic houses, castles and villages to visit within easy reach. The medieval county town of Lewes with its art and antique shops is close by, as is Brighton, with its famous Pavilion and seaside atmosphere.
