Picture an idyllic English village with a river flowing gently through the centre, ducks on the water, a village green, a shop and a church. That describes the delightful village of Cheriton, and near the Norman church is The Garden House where Harry and Sarah extend the warmest of welcomes to their guests with a sumptuous tea.

Built in the grounds of the Queen Anne rectory which was owned by Harry’s family, The Garden House is beautifully decorated and furnished: A sweeping staircase is adorned by portraits of illustrious ancestors and the comfortable and welcoming bedrooms and bathrooms have wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Delightful gardens surround the house and there is a tennis court which guests are welcome to use.

Sarah, a Cordon Bleu cook, will ensure guests enjoy fabulous food, whilst Harry will entertain with many stories of the history of the village and the house which together they so clearly love.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Harry and Sarah are sociable and interesting hosts who enjoy entertaining. Harry is a retired Chartered Accountant who loves sailing and looking after guests. Sarah, as well as her interest in food and cooking, is passionate about children having the best start in life and delivers parenting courses. She also enjoys playing bridge and tennis.

The Location

Situated within 15 minutes of the Cathedral city of Winchester, and perfect for walkers to explore the South Downs Way and the Wayfarers Walk, this is also the ideal base for visiting Jane Austen’s House, Grange Park Opera and the Georgian market town of Alresford amongst many other attractions.

Cheriton is off A272 (A34/M3 Junction 9) If approaching from Winchester turn left at Cheriton/Beauworth crossroads. After 0.7 miles turn left into drive (30 yards after the Flower Pots Inn and before the high brick and flint wall). Detailed instructions on request.
