Picture an idyllic English village with a Norman Church and the Itchen stream running gently through the village green. The Garden House is in the delightful village of Cheriton where Harry and Sarah extend the warmest of welcomes to their guests with a delicious tea.

Built in the grounds of the Queen Anne rectory which was owned by Harry’s family, The Garden House is beautifully decorated and furnished. The sweeping staircase is hung with illustrious ancestors and the comfortable and welcoming bedrooms and bathrooms have wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. A walled garden surrounds the house and there is a tennis court which guests are welcome to use.

Sarah, a Cordon Bleu cook, will ensure guests enjoy fabulous food, whilst Harry will entertain with stories of local history including the Battle of Cheriton 1644.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Harry and Sarah are sociable and interesting hosts who enjoy entertaining. Harry is a retired Chartered Accountant who loves sailing and looking after guests. Sarah, as well as her interest in food and cooking, is passionate about children having the best start in life and delivers parenting courses. She also enjoys playing bridge and tennis.

The Location

Situated within 15 minutes of the Cathedral city of Winchester, and perfect to explore the South Downs Way and the Wayfarers Walk, this is also the ideal base for visiting Jane Austen’s House, Grange Park Opera and the Georgian market town of Alresford with boutique shops and the steam-railway Watercress Line, as well as private and National Trust gardens nearby. The Southampton Boat Show, airport and cruises are an easy distance. There are excellent pubs and restaurants, and a prize-winning real-ale pub in the village.

From Winchester (A34/M3 Junction 9), after approx. 5 miles on A272, turn left at Cheriton/Beauworth crossroads. After 0.7 miles turn left into drive (after the Flower Pots Inn and before the high wall).
