A blissfully peaceful, broad, oak lined drive descends into a secret valley, leading to the courtyard and easterly aspect of this family manor house. Listed in the Domesday Book, Lavethan is a superb Grade II* house dating from the 15th century and was partly re-modelled in 1650.

The views of the valley from the dining room overlook grand 17th century oaks in the Park field sloping to the river. The 35 acres surrounding the house include a tranquil woodland water garden with Celtic crosses, a walled garden with a profusion of roses around the swimming pool and, in the valley, a river with salmon ladder. It is all breathtakingly beautiful.

Guests are invited to spend time in their own private panelled sitting room with piano and fire in winter. Comfort is also the keyword in the guest accommodation, with six foot wide double beds and two bathrooms boasting huge Edwardian bath tubs.

Blisland, a quarter of a mile away, is Cornwall's prettiest inland village with a famous medieval church and award winning pub. The Eden Project is 12 miles away and The Lost Gardens of Heligan just 14 miles. There is all the time in the world to explore and enjoy both north and south coasts; a wealth of fine houses and gardens including Lanhydrock 6 miles away; golf courses, fishing on the Camel and horse riding and walking on Bodmin Moor.

From A30 follow signs for Blisland. Keep left round village green, with church on left and pub on right. Take lane signed St. Mabyn and Merry Meeting. After quarter of a mile Lavethan drive is on the left with granite pillars and cattle grid.
