Woodhayes
Lodge No 28
Proudly overlooking the Otter Valley and Honiton, in what Daniel Defoe once called "the finest landscape in the world", rises Woodhayes, an elegant listed Georgian farmhouse.
Dating back to the 14th century, Woodhayes is steeped in history and has a fascinating literary connection. Noel's Page-Turner ancestors were first cousin and aunt to one of Britain's greatest ever writers, Jane Austen, who often frequented nearby Lyme Regis.
The antique furniture, luxurious beds with fine bed linen and walls adorned with original paintings (including full length family portraits) make this an impressive, yet comfortable home from home.
Guests are encouraged to explore the one and a half acre garden and scenic walks on the farm in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local attractions such as Dumpdon Hill, a Celtic hill fort and Luppitt Church are also worth a visit.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Christy and Noel are passionate about good food and they delight in sharing delicious four course meals, featuring the finest home grown vegetables and local meat and fish, with their guests. Active members of the local community, they clearly enjoy entertaining and meeting people from all walks of life. Noel can often be found mowing, planting trees, pruning the topiary and he also spends a lot of time involved with voluntary organisations.
