Chateau La Cour
Lodge No 159
South of Caen in the wooded Suisse Normande region, lies the pretty village of Culey le Patry. Chateau La Cour is the largest and oldest property hereabouts, dating back to the 13th century, its façade and interior richly evoking links with Richard the Lionheart.
Beautiful wood panelling, traditional tiled floors and elegant double doors decorated with cast iron work, complement the impressive stone staircase leading to three large bedrooms: ‘Papillon' with its sumptuous king size double bed, sofa and private stairs leading to an en suite bathroom; the twin bedded ‘Fleur de Lys' with Lloyd Loom chairs, writing desk and stunning en suite with king size bath; and the double ‘Rosa' with en suite and window seat from which you can gaze endlessly at the Normandy landscape.
Candlelit four course dinners and informal three course suppers feature locally sourced ingredients with vegetables, herbs and fruits from the lovingly tended potager and wild mushrooms foraged from the forest; and Continental breakfasts of freshly baked pastries and homemade confiture, prove that the heart of French living is good food and wine. Vegetarians are very welcome!
