Rising Sun
Lodge No 67
Rising Sun is a most individual and unusual Wolsey Lodge. The atmosphere is serene and the house is filled with wonderful paintings and art – the work of your hosts John and Carol. Built in 1730 as an Inn, it enjoys delightful rural views and superb walks over Wimbledon Common and is so peaceful and tranquil it's hard to believe you are just a few minutes from the centre of Wimbledon with its fashionable shops and restaurants. There are two artists' studios on the first floor where new work is always in progress.
The furnishings are a mix of antique and bespoke pieces and the wood floors are covered with rugs. From the sitting room French doors open onto the secluded garden which is filled with flowers and a pond and there is a delightful octagonal summer house where guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast.
The bedroom which overlooks the rear garden is simple and extremely comfortable, with fine bed linen, lots of books and a beautiful en suite bathroom. On arrival you will be served tea and home made cakes or biscuits whilst you begin to appreciate the delights of this unique home.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Carol is a professional painter and jeweller and John is a renowned painter with portraits in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery. Carol's other love is literature and the house is filled with books whilst John's passion is classical music and old films. There is a wonderful informality about this house and friends and family are always welcome.
