Old houses have a very particular charm all of their own and The Elms at Tiddington, Stratford-upon-Avon is no exception. Every bit a relaxed, informal family home, the building dates back to the 16th century and has heavily beamed ceilings and the quirky irregular floorboards and stairs you would expect, but which make it not so suitable for infirm visitors.

Lavender borders the drive up to the house where you will be warmly welcomed by Jane and Michael with an invitation to join them for tea and homemade cakes – the flapjacks with blueberries are particularly delicious. Breakfast, and dinner if pre-arranged, are taken in the dining room where a warming wood burner roars in the winter and the adjacent sitting room offers a comfortable end to a day’s sightseeing.

The guest room has a romantic 5 foot four poster bed and is decorated in a gentle blue and yellow Chinese theme. The en suite bathroom is down a couple of steps and whilst not housing a shower – those ancient beams again – does have a spacious bath and plenty of room.

Outside there is a pretty courtyard for al-fresco dining, walled orchard and extensive gardens which add to the rural charm of this unique home.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Jane and Michael have lived here for many years and together run a property development company both here and in Greece. Natural and very easy-going hosts they understand the need for guests to relax and unwind. Michael is also a pilot and can arrange scenic flights for guests.

The Location

Just a mile from Stratford you will never be at a loss for places to visit. Your hosts will even arrange theatre packages for you. A bustling town, Stratford has as much to offer shoppers as tourists and places to eat are plentiful and varied.
