Christmas and New Year at The Old Rectory

This magnificent listed Georgian rectory, dating from 1790 and located in the centre of the village of Cradley, is a delight. Retaining many original features and decorated and furnished in period style, Claire and her partner John have overseen the careful renovation of the house to create a beautiful home.

The hall, surmounted by a stunning atrium, has a curving staircase leading to the beautifully decorated bedrooms on the first floor and a guest sitting room with television and open fireplace at the top of the house. The hall leads into the drawing room with its restored fireplace, carved and gilded wooden pelmets and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden. Also leading off the hall are the formal dining room with its superbly sophisticated décor adorned with Claire’s fabulous paintings, the Library with large sash windows and a scratched inscription on one pane (ask Claire or John about the historical Clerical dispute) and a delightful morning room.

Home grown vegetables and local produce feature in Claire’s inspired cooking and she is happy to prepare packed lunches for guests to enjoy whilst they are out and about.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Claire is a renowned artist and accomplished cook with a passion for walking, whilst businessman John, also a talented cook, plays tennis, squash and racket ball. They both love entertaining and looking after their guests and in their spare time enjoy sailing and the theatre.

The Location

At the foot of the Malvern Hills – perfect for keen walkers to explore the Elgar Route and the Worcestershire Way. The Victorian spa town of Great Malvern and horse racing or shopping at Worcester or Cheltenham are within easy reach. The Three Counties Showground is close by as is Eastnor Castle and the Malvern Theatre. Worcester, Hereford and Gloucester each host the annual Three Choirs Festival in turn.
