Glebe House is a haven of peace and tranquillity approached down a leafy lane and situated in the hamlet of Chittoe with wonderful views over the valley to Spye Park. Originally a chapel, but now extended, Glebe House is beautifully decorated and furnished with fascinating antiques and pictures. The drawing room with its grand piano has double doors opening onto the terrace and garden where guests will enjoy dining if the weather allows.

The garden is a delight, set out on terraces and filled with an array of plants against a backdrop of mature trees. The bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom, offer every comfort - large beds, comfortable chairs and delightful colour schemes - complete with fine linen and large, soft towels. Ginny is a talented cook and uses, seasonal produce as much as possible which is served alongside home grown fruit and herbs from the garden, home made bread, marmalade and jams.

Ginny and Bill are the most welcoming of hosts who like to make their guests feel part of the family. Bill's ancestors lived at the Manor house at nearby Castle Combe and Ginny was bought up in Africa and between them they have many interesting stories to tell. They are happy to recommend serveral excellent pubs and restaurants if guests want a night out.

The Location

Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country this is the ideal base for visiting the tantalisingly magical sites of Stonehenge and Avebury as well as the celebrated city of Bath. There are magnificent houses at Bowood, Badminton, Lacock Abbey and Longleat and historic towns such as Devizes, Marlborough, Wells and Glastonbury to visit. For the more energetic there are wondeful walks and cycle paths along the nearby Kennet & Avon canal.

If you are using GPS our post code is SN15 2EL. Alternatively take A342 Devizes to Chippenham road between junctions A3102 Calne/Melksham road. From A342 turn to Chittoe and Spye Park. Continue over crossroad onto narrow lane. Glebe House is second on left after street lamp post. Turn up lane and go to back of house.
