Westward
Lodge No 45
The views from this beautiful Georgian Cotswold stone house, once visited by George III, are only revealed on arrival, across the lovely gardens to the lake and the far side of the glorious Sudeley valley. In this tranquil setting, the Wilsons delight in sharing their very English home.
The traditionally furnished drawing room and dining room are for guests' exclusive use. In winter, the drawing room has a roaring log fire, whilst in summer, these rooms open out onto the terrace and lovingly tended garden which comes to life in vibrant colour.
Three warm, comfortable bedrooms, each with en suite bath and thermostatic shower are furnished in distinctive period style. Hot water capacity is ample, having been specified with guests in mind! All beds are king size, whilst the Blue and Green rooms can be set up with two single 3 foot beds.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
This is Jim’s family home and he manages much of the estate and woodland whilst also working in London 2 to 3 days a week. Jim and Susie are widely travelled and lead a busy life with the farm and animals. Susie sculpts and trained at Prue Leith’s School of Food and Wine and, although she hardly ever provides evening meals now, guests enjoy the extensive breakfast menu, including kedgeree and fishcakes, as well as delicious teas on arrival. Within one mile is Winchcombe, which boasts good places to eat across the price range, including that run by the Best Gloucestershire Chef (voted 2008) and a friendly gastro-pub; there is further choice within 3 to 4 miles.
The Location
Westward sits close to all the main Cotswold attractions - Broadway, Chipping Campden and Stow are all within 20 minutes, Stratford 40 minutes, Oxford and Warwick are 1 hour away and Bath 75 minutes. Hidcote and Kiftsgate are close by, as is Cheltenham, just 8 miles away, yet invisible behind the silhouette of Cleeve Hill.
