Prepare to be utterly smitten with this truly gorgeous Wolsey Lodge. Great Campston simply has everything you could wish for in a B&B. Attentive, interesting hosts, blissfully comfortable bedrooms, superb food and probably one of the most stunning locations we’ve come across.

Looking across the Black Mountains and secluded in nearly 300 acres of farmland, Great Campston is the 17th century home to Chantal and Charles Dunn. Together they have renovated every corner of the house with flavours of their previous home in Thailand combined with period finishes, modern art, antiques and fine furnishings.

Bedrooms are spacious, airy and oh so comfortable, whilst downstairs, open fires in winter and the serenity of the extensive gardens and woodland in summer all combine to make this a very special Wolsey Lodge. Two of the bedrooms are located in the ‘Billiard Room Cottage’ a short step from the main house which offers additional seclusion and privacy for guests. Homemade Welsh cakes when you arrive are complemented by other homemade delicacies at breakfast together with local farm produce.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Charles and Chantal are both well travelled, previously living in Thailand and The Netherlands. Charles was a lawyer but they both now devote their time to their guests, garden and animals – two Tamworth sows and their piglets, numerous chickens and a Jack Russell. Chantal loves cooking and provides delicious dinners for guests although there is also a fine choice of eateries in the area.

The Location

This part of Wales has so much to see and do – the Brecon Beacons National Park, Hay on Wye and its famous book festival, art galleries, golf courses, mountain biking , and of course nearby is Hereford Cathedral home to the Mappa Mundi and chained library.
