Pentre Mawr
Lodge No 147
The search for Utopia could be over because we're pretty sure we've found it tucked away in this unspoilt corner of North Wales. It isn't just in the glorious scenery that surrounds you, nor is it just in the beautiful house that awaits you. It's all of this but mostly it's in the welcome you receive on arrival with tea and home made cakes and the feeling that guests are the most important people and deserve to be treated as such.
The farm has been in Graham's family for 400 years and since taking over Graham and Bre have carried out extensive refurbishment. The result is classic country house style - sumptuous furnishings, four poster beds and traditional bathrooms - with a relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome to unwind in the large drawing room or the study and, if the weather behaves, breakfast may be served on the terrace beside the salt water swimming pool.
Great use is made of home grown fruit and vegetables and locally sourced, seasonal food and, best of all, bread, cakes and scones are baked fresh every day. Humans with canine masters are also very welcome as long as the humans remain on the lead around the farm and wipe their feet before they come inside (special towels provided at the door)! A truly animal-friendly house, complete with resident dogs and cats, and bedrooms named after the cats in Old Possums Book of Practical Cats - a wonderful quirky touch.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Graham and Bre have spent many years working in the hotel industry and manage to combine a professional approach with touches that reflect their personalities. Bre's interest in interior design is evident everywhere whilst Graham is a trained chef turned gardener who loves to be out on his tractor tending the land.
The Location
This is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it truly lives up to the description. Snowdonia, the coast, and the Horseshoe Pass in Llangollen, castles, cities and cathedrals, fishing, walking are all on the doorstep, or perhaps a steam railway trip or a ghost walking tour of nearby Ruthin might appeal.
How to find Pentre Mawr Bed & Breakfast (B&B).
