The Barn

The Grade II listed Barn and stables are tucked away in the conservation village of Folkingham. Brushing away dust and the cobwebs during rebuilding, the owners discovered ancient stonework in the walls, apparently ‘recycled' in the 17th century from the Norman castle in the village.

Perfectly restored, but with the advantages of underfloor heating and excellent modern plumbing, apart from a separate sitting room, the rest of the barn is open to the roof with a large dining table at one end, and an open fire surrounded by sofas at the other. Antique oak furniture graces the interior, suffused with light through numerous windows and French doors lead guests out of the kitchen into the sunny courtyard garden.

Simply stylish guest rooms, each with excellent power shower, include a twin or double bedded room, and a further double and single room in the wing of the attached stables. Double/twin room enjoys views over the field of grazing Jacob sheep to the church, which is floodlit after dark.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Simon and Jane have farmed until recently and continue to produce, cook and enjoy wonderful fresh local food, including their own home made sausages. Simon flies an ancient aeroplane and Jane drives her pony in an even more antique trap! They have had enormous fun converting their barn and love sharing it with others.

The Location

The village has many interesting buildings including the ‘House of Correction', now owned by the Landmark Trust. Country houses, castles, cathedrals and outstanding village churches abound and the nearby coasts and Wolds are perfect for simply getting away from it all.

From the A15 in Folkingham, turn into Spring Lane alongside the Village Hall, (just below the old school and the Market Place). The Barn is a little way along on the right.
