Barleyford
Lodge No 7
Beautifully set in the soft green foothills of the Peak District, Barleyford lies in complete seclusion, reached through a wooded river valley and rolling farmland. The lovely 14th century house stands in splendid isolation at the end of a mile-long private road .
Huge cruck beams, massive timbers, crackling log fires, old oak furniture and works of art reminiscent of another age sit comfortably with gentle modernisation. Every room in the house, including the four poster suite and the magnificent beamed bedroom, has a wonderful view.
Masses of lavender and soft blue nepeta edge the stone flagged terrace where guests take tea in summer. 110 acres of extensively farmed grassland and woodland are home to wonderful wildlife, from pied fly-catchers in the alders and mad February hares, to red deer stags roaring near the house during the autumn rut. Three long-distance footpaths are directly accessible, and guests may if they wish borrow wellies and binoculars.

How to find Barleyford Bed & Breakfast (B&B).
DO NOT GO TO WINCLE. Leave A523 at Rushton entering Sugar Street beside the Royal Oak. After ¼ mile fork left into dip and straight on into private road. Surface is rough at first but soon improves. Keep straight on, down hill and over river. Barleyford is at the end of a mile of private road.
