Situated in a peaceful area on the edge of the Yorkshire market town of Ripon, visitors to Sharow Cross House enjoy a tree lined vista with views of the cathedral in the distance. Located just opposite Sharow Cross, the National Monument marking the cathedral boundary and the sanctuary it provided to fugitives. This idyllic and relaxing outlook is all part of discovering a beautiful house that was once the country retreat of a ‘soap’ baron but which is now home to Lyn and Rod Macaulay.

Large and graceful rooms have been carefully renovated to retain original features such as the oak floors, plaster moulding and imposing fireplaces to give a relaxed and homely feel from the moment you arrive. Tea and homemade cakes on arrival can be followed by dinner if you choose – and we think you should. Dining here is a very real treat and Lyn has created a menu that would grace any fine restaurant, featuring traditional and classic choices made from the freshest produce that is deliciously cooked and perfectly served.

Guest bedrooms are spacious and bright with light flooding in through the huge windows. Each room is equipped with White Company toiletries, complimentary water and snacks and the largest guest room makes a perfect family suite with a comfortable sitting area.

From A1 South take J48 follow Ripon signs past Racecourse on left, at roundabout turn right onto A61, over next roundabout, next roundabout turn right onto Sharow Lane. House is 3rd drive on left, turn into shared drive and immediately right into house. From A1 North take A61 signed Ripon and Thirsk. Turn right off slip road onto A61 Ripon. Follow road for @ 3 miles at roundabout turn left into Sharow Lane. House is 3rd drive on left, turn into shared drive and immediately right into house.
