Don't be fooled by the name 'The Wold Cottage'. Far from being a humble cottage, this is a magnificent Grade ll listed Georgian Manor House, approached along a tree lined drive through mature landscaped gardens and set amidst 300 acres of rolling farmland. Originally a Georgian gentleman's country retreat the house retains many original features and is full of character.

The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished with antiques yet exude a wonderful homely ambience. The bedrooms are delightful, with crisp Egyptian linen, comfortable chairs and are equipped with televisions, clock-radios and tea making facilities, and one has a large four poster bed, and all have wonderful views of the Yorkshire Wolds. The en suite bathrooms are also beautifully finished with lovely bathrobes and toiletries. Two other bedrooms are located across the courtyard in a converted farm building, one on the ground floor and one above with its' own small kitchen, and again both have en suite bathrooms. The ground floor family bedroom has wheelchair access and both are comfortably furnished with modern furniture.

Delicious breakfasts and dinners are prepared using local produce and include vegetables from the garden whenever possible.

The Location

Superb location for bird watching, walking along the Yorkshire Wolds Way or the Moors, fishing or golf at Ganton. Visit Castle Howard, Sledmere House or York with it's magnificent Minster and the glorious Yorkshire coast is only 7 miles away so perhaps visit Filey or the famous fishing port of Whitby.
