Cockmill Hall
Lodge No 109B
Dating from the 17th century and set beautiful gardens in the tiny hamlet of Golden Grove within the North York Moors National Park close to Whitby, Cockmill Hall is a real ‘find’.
An oak panelled entrance hall and a wide oak staircase lead up to the bedroom and bathroom which are large and light with lovely soft furnishings and antiques along with hospitality tray, television and DVD player, hairdryer and sumptuous robes. The bathroom also boasts an original Edwardian bath with an overhead power shower.
A hearty Yorkshire breakfast and afternoon tea are served in the elegant drawing room with its open fireplace, whilst dinner (by prior arrangement, is enjoyed by candlelight in the cosy dining room.
This is the perfect house for the world weary to relax – the only sounds to be heard are birdsong and wood pigeons cooing or a farmer ploughing the fields in the distance. There are no street lights to detract from the night sky – altogether the most peaceful and tranquil place to stay. The three acre gardens are gradually being restored to their Victorian splendour.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Anne, who speaks French and Spenish, is an ex-RAF officer with a wealth of experience in entertaining guests. She has many interests and hobbies but not much opportunity to indulge in them – looking after her guests, house and garden take up most of her time.
