Victorian splendour overlooking the stunning and majestic North Yorkshire Moors - what more could one ask for? Well, how about elegance, style and the warmest of welcomes with tea and cakes served on arrival. Beautifully decorated and furnished with a mix of antique, Art Deco and modern, the house is light, airy and stylish. Roaring log fires in most rooms help to set the seal on a delightful house. The bedrooms are a delight with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside, and providing crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy bathrobes, coffee and tea trays and television. Each has a private or en suite bathroom, and the Library Suite also has a private sitting room.

Not for the fainthearted - the full Yorkshire breakfast, prepared using as much local and organic produce as possible, is served in front of a log fire in winter. The garden extends to 1½ acres of lawn, herbaceous borders and woodland walks. Stewart and Adele also own fishing rights on the River Esk which is Yorkshire's premier salmon river and are delighted to let guests fish on this stretch.

The house is licensed for weddings and you can even be married in the 100 year old summer house in the garden. An intimate, exclusive occasion will be assured.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Stewart and Adele are lively, friendly and excellent hosts. Stewart is a retired airline pilot who flew Concorde for 7 years and has a fund of interesting and amusing stories to tell. Adele is now a passionate gardener but she has spent most of her life in textiles and has been a member of the Embroiderers Guild for almost thirty years.

The Location

Situated in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park but close to the coast this is an ideal location. Walking, riding, golf, fishing (even fossil hunting along the Dinosaur Coast) means there is something for everyone or visit historic Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough, Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey.

From the A171 follow signs to Egton. In Egton turn right opposite the ‘Wheatsheaf' signed ‘Glaisdale'. After 2 miles turn sharp right at the bottom of Limber Hill. After 400 yards fork left at ‘No Through Road' sign and continue up hill to The Grange. Drive past the house to find ample parking and the main entrance.
