Original Victorian features greet guests on arrival as well as a warm welcome from hosts Gerry and Marion. Dating back to 1825, the manor house sits in ¾ of an acre of peaceful walled gardens with wide-reaching views across Ulverston and Morecambe Bay. Rich in Victorian style, including original fireplaces in each bedroom, and furnished with graceful antiques, guests have a private lounge and conservatory that benefit from the glorious sea views. Bedrooms are large and combine genuine antique beds with modern luxury mattresses and linen along with tea making facilities, televisions, DVD players, hairdryers and bathrobes to guarantee guest's absolute comfort.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Originally a teacher, Marion ran a restaurant and outside catering company before raising children took over and then managed the BAE VIP guest house which set the standards that were brought to St Mary's Mount. Together with Gerry, who is an engineer working in the oil and gas field, they ran a wine shop in Ulverston for many years and share a passion for food which is evident in the substantial breakfasts guests enjoy which include home-made jams and marmalades, plus eggs from their own hens. Both enjoy fell walking and share their knowlege to help their guests enjoy the beauty of the area to the full.

The Location

St Mary's Mount is in a quiet area of Ulverston, a pleasant market town on the edge of the Lake District National Park and one hour's drive from the Yorkshire Dales. Ulverston is world-renowned for its many festivals that offer something for everyone and the many National Trust attractions, fell walking and lakes provide a varied and exciting holiday.

Take J36 from M6, follow A590 to Barrow, when reaching Ulverston at second roundabout turn right to town centre, follow road around to junction, turn very sharp right, follow road up around to left past church, follow road around to right, take first turning on left signed Hoad Monument. St Mary's Mount drive is on right.
