In this quiet, unsung corner of Cumbria, you will find Sirelands, a beautiful, sheltered and peaceful Cumbrian cottage overlooking the North Pennines, yet only ten minutes from the nearest M6 junction at Carlisle.

Guests are welcomed into this relaxing home with home baked afternoon tea, served in front of the open fire or in the summerhouse, depending on the season. Settle into a comfortable sofa in the large, traditionally decorated drawing room overlooking the garden. Throughout the house is a wealth of browsing material and bedtime reading for bookworms to enjoy.

Charming guest rooms include a twin with extra long, old beds and a double with traditional style sleigh bed, both of which offer tea and coffee making facilities and television. In warm weather, single beds are made up with traditional cotton sheets and blankets, with cosier duvets used in winter. A secluded two acre garden with tranquil pond and stream, is home to rare red squirrels and is brimming with rhododendrons in late spring.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

David and Angela have farmed here since 1962 and have derived enormous pleasure from developing Sirelands, which has evolved from a traditional gardener's cottage dating from about 1730. They enjoy country pursuits available in the area and entertaining guests has always been an essential and enjoyable part of their lives.

The Location

The Lake District and Hadrians Wall are particular attractions, but there is also golf, fishing, the RSPB Reserve at Geltsdale and regular meetings at Carlisle race course. The city of Carlisle has many historic interests of its own.

From M6 Junction 43 take A69 for Newcastle. After 3 miles turn right at traffic lights for Heads Nook (1½ miles). After village pass two junctions. Keep right at letter box, signposted Castle Carrock. 1 mile on, white house on left.
