John, Harriet and their two sons have made this lovely Grade ll Georgian house their home for 25 years and continue to welcome visitors to this tranquil corner of North Yorkshire.

Beautiful and generously proportioned rooms, warmed by log fires in winter, are all sumptuously furnished with antiques and fine pictures. The drawing room and dining room look over the historic parkland of Studley Royal and fragrant climbing roses and colourful herbaceous borders fill the walled gardens.

Blissfully comfortable beds in which hot water bottles are placed in chilly weather and modern, pretty bathrooms with fluffy towels, bathrobes, luxury soaps and bath essences, make guests feel truly spoilt in large twin or double en suite bedrooms with peaceful views over wild flower meadows.

Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts

Harriet, who once had her own interior decorating business and John, who has been in the wine trade for many years, promise wonderfully old fashioned hospitality. Exquisite dinner favourites such as marinated rack of lamb; quail stuffed with apricot and wild rice; or roasted loin of pork wrapped in pancetta stuffed with prunes have attracted Clarissa Dickson-Wright to come and stay and prompted her to write that Harriet's roast grouse was the best that she had ever eaten!

The Location

The Yorkshire Dales offer breathtaking scenery either by car or on foot. The property adjoins the historic Studley Royal Deer Park and 11th Century Fountains Abbey. Ripon is just 2 miles away and Newby Hall, Ripley Castle, Castle Howard and Harewood House are amongst many wonderful houses close by. A visit to Betty's tearooms in Harrogate or a day in York is a real treat.

How to find Lawrence House Bed & Breakfast (B&B).

Turn off the A1 to Ripon. In Ripon take the B6265 Pateley Bridge Road. About 2 miles out of Ripon take a left hand turn into the village of Studley Roger. Lawrence House is the last house on the right hand side of the village.
