Low Hall
Lodge No 119
This ancient stone built farmhouse, believed to be medieval but refurbished in 1635, is found at the end of a long farm lane running downhill to a peaceful river valley. Surrounded by a garden designed to compliment the structure and history of the old house, Low Hall is a hidden treasure which has been in Pamela's family since 1921.
With views of the Dales from every window and only the sounds of the river, familiar owls and seasonal stock farm noises to punctuate the silence of the night, guests can expect a blissful night's sleep in comfortable beds, with a choice of sheets or duvet. The attics and ancient roofing always keep the house cool in summer.
Stone mullioned windows, beams and large open fireplaces dictate the simple décor, which is complemented perfectly by 17th century pieces of oak furniture and Persian rugs. A concession to more relaxed living is the conservatory, enabling guests to breakfast in the sunshine while enjoying bacon and eggs.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Pamela returned to Low Hall in the 1980s and made significant internal improvements, including introducing central heating! She is a keen gardener and opens her garden annually for the National Gardens Scheme, under the heading ‘Dacre Banks Gardens’ She also welcomes private groups throughout the summer. As well as the kitchen garden which supplies produce for guests, there are borders, lawns, an orchard and pond garden.
