Cairness House
Lodge No 133A
An historic stately home, faithfully restored, set amidst wildlife-filled parkland near the Aberdeenshire coast and offering old-fashioned hospitality - if Scotland is your favoured destination then try to make Cairness House part of your trip. Dating back to the 1790's, the house was designed by noted architect James Playfair and is widely acknowledged as the most important Greek Revival country house in Scotland. This extraordinary neoclassical building has had its fine features restored and is sumptuously decorated and furnished – not forgetting the comfort of modern conveniences – which makes a stay here a history-laden treat.
The grounds around the house have been planted with over 3,000 trees including 150 rare specimens in an arboretum, attracting deer, hawks and other wildlife. Inside, original colour schemes, antiques and paintings all go to reinforce the impression that you have stepped back to another time.
Guest bedrooms are individually furnished with four poster beds, linen and comfortable en suite or private bathrooms and all rooms overlook the surrounding countryside and gardens. Breakfast and dinner, if taken, are served in a charming Georgian kitchen and feature local produce and traditional Scottish fare to set you up for a day’s exploring this beautiful area.
