17th century glory collides head on with 21st technology in this spectacular and very special house. ‘Taken apart and put back together’ under the guidance of Historic Scotland every care has been taken to ensure historic accuracy whilst subtly incorporating modern luxuries such as bathrooms with showers lined with natural stone, under floor heating, heated mirrors and bedrooms with internet access.

The approach is down a long tree lined avenue leading to a circular driveway in front of the house. Letham House, set in 10 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Haddington, offers peace and tranquillity amidst mature trees, shrubs and a sun-drenched terrace ablaze with flowers. Elegant furnishings, sweeping staircases, comfortable bedrooms with fine linen, luxurious bathrobes and gorgeous handmade Scottish soaps for pampering after a days sightseeing, all combine to provide a magical experience. The views from the bedrooms are south facing where wild deer are often spotted in the grounds and the bathrooms have under floor heating and large walk in shower or roll tops baths. For pure indulgence, there is a private suite with a relaxing spa bath.

Chris and Barbara are committed to providing the ultimate Wolsey Lodge experience – style, warmth, luxury and peace – and they succeed magnificently. Barbara was previously a successful Relocation Agent whilst Chris’s primary trade is as a Saddler and he runs a bespoke leather manufacturing company. In the field at the bottom of the garden you will meet Hanka and Anya, their beautiful halflinger horses.

The Location

The small market town of Haddington has some excellent restaurants and pubs and is just a mile away. The famous Muirfield Golf Course is amongst 30 surrounding golf courses. There are beautiful beaches, the Lammermuir Hills and the Sea Bird Centre in North Berwick is close by and, of course, the culture, history and fabulous shopping facilities of magnificent Edinburgh is easily accessible.
