Ballochruin Farm
Lodge No 142A
Traditional red sandstone buildings with spectacular views of the Campsie Fells are your first taste of the treat in store at Ballochruin Farm. The second is the fabulously friendly welcome from Freddie and Janet. This is a wonderfully relaxed and informal house where guests immediately feel part of the household.
The drawing room has an open fire and comfortable sofas and the dining room overlooks the gardens. The bedrooms and en suite bathrooms are modern and simply furnished with comfortable beds and fine linen and one bathroom boasts a ‘bath for two’ whilst the other has a walk-in shower.
Freddie cooks delicious breakfasts and suppers or dinners using lots of locally sourced ingredients and eggs from the farm. This is very much a working farm with Galloway cattle, geese, ducks and hens and a growing herd of friendly alpacas which guests are encouraged to get to know.
Fishing is available on the river that runs through the farm and you might be lucky enough to glimpse some of the otters and kingfishers that inhabit this area.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Freddie and Janet used to run a Wolsey Lodge at Ratho Hall near Edinburgh and moved to Ballochruin Farm in 2003. They have spent the intervening time refurbishing the farm and now look forward to welcoming back old friends and making new acquaintances. They are very much involved in breeding and showing alpacas and dinner conversation invariably centres on these lovely animals and their infectious enthusiasm for them encourages guests to return.
