Cardross

Lodge No 159

Cardross House is magnificent! For anyone with an interest in historic buildings this is an absolute must. Built in 1598 as a Tower House with later additions, it occupies a commanding position on rising ground above the River Fourth with magnificent views in all directions.

On arrival at Cardross House you drive through beautiful parkland to be welcomed first by the family dogs and then by Nicola into what is a wonderful blend of friendly informality and elegant formality - comfy chairs covered with blankets in the outer hall and family portraits covering the walls of the main hall and grand staircase. The house has a particularly fine formal drawing room and dining room both beautifully decorated and furnished with fine antiques; however guests will be served breakfast and dinner in the less formal atmosphere of a delightful small Georgian panelled dining room and be entertained in the evening in the charming library in front of a roaring fire.

The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished and have wonderful views over the garden. The main bedroom has an en suite bathroom and a small open tower room, with dressing table and stool, leading off it, whilst the second bedroom has a private bathroom.
