Newtonmill House
Lodge No 113
Approaching Newtonmill House through the pillared entrance is similar to taking a step back in time. This Grade B listed, 18th century Laird's house is one of the most beautiful houses in Scotland. Set amidst 25 acres of grassland and mixed woodland, guests will delight in its traditional walled garden that brims with herbaceous, rose and peony beds. Meals include fruit and vegetables grown in the garden along with eggs from Rose's hens.
You simply cannot help feeling at home here with rooms marked with endearing personal touches and furnished with antiques, lovely paintings, pretty wall-coverings and fabrics. A traditional Wolsey greeting of tea and cakes marks your arrival and whilst you sample these delights you will start to appreciate how special this beautiful house is.
The bedrooms, furnished with painted antique furniture, are delightful - the twin room with en suite bathroom gazes down over the walled garden and the double room with private bathroom looks out over a rose filled courtyard. Character and history abound in this house which in recent times has had connections with Glamis Castle and the Bowes Lyon family - the Queen Mother was a frequent visitor and donated plants from the Castle of Mey.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Stephen and Rose have lived with their family at Newtonmill for over 20 years and Stephen now works from home. They are wonderful hosts and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Rose is a Cordon Bleu cook and, as well as looking after the house and garden, is a JP.
