At Bridge of Awe Lodge, relax in splendid surroundings, enjoy good food and conversation and fall asleep to the sound of the turbulent River Awe. Built in the second half of the last century, this elegant and cosy riverside fishing lodge is filled with pictures, antique furniture and family memorabilia. It has been extensively altered by the present owner to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Peace prevails in the drawing room, with its open fire, comfortable chairs and French windows to the garden. The dining room and conservatory also have spectacular views over the river.
The bedrooms have an easy charm and are furnished with antique furniture and pictures, all have en suite bathrooms and are light and airy with Chintz curtains and fresh flowers on the dressing tables. There is a tray provided for making tea and coffee and provision for television in some rooms.
Your Bed & Breakfast Hosts
Robert Knight lived for many years in the Irish Republic where he restored 18th century houses and also had restaurants in both Dublin and Co. Meath. He is also a keen salmon fisherman. At dinner (served by prior arrangement), you will be treated to fish, meat and game, interesting starters and puddings and usually Stilton to finish.
The Location
Taynuilt has a historical connection with Nelson, as the cannon balls for the Battle of Trafalgar were made in the foundry there. Visit numerous west coast gardens (best in May and June), Inverarary Castle and Inverawe Smokehouse. There are ferries from Oban to Mull and the Islands, breathtaking walks, Munros to climb and golf courses within an easy drive. Fishing can be arranged on nearby lochs and rivers.

How to find Bridge of Awe Lodge Bed & Breakfast (B&B).
Take A85 (Oban Road). Travel 23 miles west from Crianlarich. Turn right (signed Inverawe Fisheries & Smokery) immediately before bridge over the River Awe. The house is first on the left after high hedge.
