Thurst House Farm

Warm, welcoming and so hard to leave…

Nestled amongst miles of open countryside in the traditional farming community of Ripponden, close to Sowerby Bridge sits this idyllic getaway, full of relaxation and tranquility. Why not indulge yourself in one of the many health treatments on offer? Ranging from meditation, crystal healing, hypnotherapy, chakra balancing and much more alongside a traditional B&B stay. Be sure to enquire at the time of booking.

Inside there are book-lined walls in the hall, where guests can sit, read or browse, and an open fire in the sitting room perfect for the winter season. Alongside the old Oak beams and mullioned windows, there is a real cosy ambience.

There are three bed and breakfast bedrooms with lovely views of the Yorkshire countryside and come with courtesy trays, biscuits, toiletries and fresh flowers for a traditional country living. The antique brass double bed is made up with hand-crocheted bed linen and the twin bedroom with its oversize antique white and brass beds has another twin leading off for extra family space.

The rose-filled garden is in full bloom during the summer period, with plenty of sunny places to sit. Breakfast is hearty and filling, with the homemade bread especially tasty.

Your B&B Hosts

Your hosts at this West Yorkshire luxury accommodation are David and Judith Marriott. David was a bedding manufacturer so a comfortable night’s sleep is assured. Judith is a trained cook, so you can expect great traditional English cooking. She also makes her own bread, jams, and marmalades, so breakfast is a rare treat that Wolsey Lodge guests will truly appreciate before a day spent exploring South Yorkshire! Judith also concentrates on the garden, tending the vegetables used in her cooking and making sure she has happy hens!

Location

The Bronte Museum and the houses used as inspiration in the main novels are just 40 minutes away. Museums abound and The Photographic Museum and Eureka (the children's hands-on activity museum) and Mining Museum are easily accessible. The Huddersfield Choral Society and Leeds Piano Competition are always worth a visit as are the Calderdale and Pennine Way - a haven for walkers.
