Fox Hill Bed and Breakfast

A welcoming home in the heart of London

Step through the doors of this traditional family home and you'll feel instantly at ease. There are dogs, cats and chickens, beautiful fabrics and artworks throughout, and a glorious garden. Crystal Palace is a quiet and leafy village-within-a-city with a character all of its own. This is a great alternative to the city's anonymous hotels, with London's unparalleled transport system linking you to anywhere you need to be but also bringing you back to this tranquil, unrushed haven.

There are four guest bedrooms here. On the first floor there's a large double bedroom with en suite and a large double bedroom with private bathroom. On the second floor there are two further rooms, a double and a double/twin, that share a shower room. As befits a period property all have individual characters, but all are tastefully furnished and superbly comfortable. There is, of course, wifi throughout.

Breakfast is iincluded in the room rate and is served in the family kitchen. Tea and coffee facilities are not provided in the bedroom as experience has shown guests prefer to make themselves at home downstairs and make their own. The garden is a highlight: don't miss the chance to explore. Dinner can be arranged - and most dietary needs can be catered for - though there are so many restaurants in the immediate area most guests tend to eat out.

Your B&B Hosts

Your hosts here both come from military family backgrounds and have lived and travelled around the world since an early age. This is reflected in the cuisine, decor and garden. Sue is an artist working with quilts and wallhangings and a British Tour Authority guide who has also worked at the Chelsea Physic Garden. Tim is a teacher, computer scientist and charity worker. Adding to the family are two miniature wire-haired dachshunds and two very elegant cats. Take some time to explore the garden: with a large pond attracting further wildlife this is a place where you're more likely to be disturbed by the hooting of an owl than the sound of a siren.

Location

Fox Hill Bed and Breakfast is set in a leafy part of south London, seven minutes walk from Crystal Palace railway station. The journey time to Victoria and London Bridge is 22 minutes. Crystal Palace is also on the tube system, on the overground/East London line. By car satnav will bring you to the door but for some reason doesn't acknowledge the existence of No. 24 - dial in No. 26 which is right next door. Street parking is free outside the house, and off-street parking is sometimes available by arrangement. While it's easy to get into central London the Crystal Palace area has a character all of its own: truly a village within the city and well worth exploring in its own right.
