Old Kippenross

Layers of history, curated into a wonderful B&B experience…

Looking for something a bit unusual whilst at the same time still wanting luxury bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation? Then look no further, Old Kippenross is a magical architectural gem, quite unique in Scotland, tucked away in a sheltered sunny position in a wooded valley beside the River Allan.

The 'ancient tower' was built in 1448 and was confirmed as a Barony in 1507. In 1633 it was extended to a fortified L-shaped tower house. It has been painted pink ever since the battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715, a sign that it was a safe house for Jacobite supporters.

The ground floor of the accommodation is fascinating with a vaulted ceiling, an arched fireplace and a log fire. A spiral stair leads up to the 'Blue Room', a twin-bedded room with an en suite bathroom and a small single room for a child or relation. Up again is the 'Tower Bedroom' with a king size double bed and en suite bathroom.

Each of these bedrooms are prettily decorated and face south with views to the river where roe deer can often be seen browsing. A walk beside the river and in the grounds among mature trees and abundant wildlife is a must!

Very good. We enjoyed our stay. The home was very appealing, in a beautiful location, in a romantic, friendly country setting.
