The Old Chapel

A spiritual home converted to the highest standards, a cosy welcome in the heart of Cornwall

From the minute you walk into your room at the Old Chapel you’ve come home, a warm and beautifully furnished environment with all the little extra touches – including home-made biscuits and sweets – to make life easy. Once a place of worship: now a place of comfort. Greg and Kimberley have created a restful base from which to explore England’s southwest.

There are four guest bedrooms and though only three are en-suite reviewers on Tripadvisor say don’t be put off: gowns are provided and nocturnal encounters with other guests are unknown. The place is kept scrupulously clean, bed linens are crisp and the décor is restful and in good taste. The artwork is noticeable: most of the pictures are by London artist Jonathan Huxley, an internationally recognised contemporary artist, and are exclusive to The Old Chapel.

Your hosts here pride themselves on the quality and choice of their award-winning breakfast menu. The emphasis is very much on using locally-sourced produce. Jams and marmalades are all home made, artisan breads are locally sourced and a cult following has emerged for their eggs Benedict.

Your B&B Hosts

Your gracious hosts Kimberley and Greg make everyone feel welcome from the minute they arrive and are always on hand with a ready stock of maps and guidebooks to help with all your travel arrangements. They specialise in catering for guests who arrive by public transport, collecting from train or coach stops and arranging specialist guides to help explore.

Location

Set in the heart of Cornwall, The Old Chapel is at once rural and well away from the coastal crowds but well-connected, being close to the A390 arterial road. Lostwithiel, Cornwall’s antiques centre, is close by. Access to the southern highlights of Fowey, Polperro and Looe are easy, but The Old Chapel is also within easy reach of the Atlantic coast and Padstow, Polzeath, Doc Martin’s Port Isaac and Tintagel Castle of the Arthurian legends.
