The Old Manor House, Halford

Tudor luxury in the Warwickshire Cotswolds

This beautiful Warwickshire bed and breakfast exudes character and style. Most of the house dates back to 1550, and history lives on in the exposed beams and period features. There's a large drawing room for the exclusive use of guests, where antique furnishings and modern works of art sit comfortably together; warmed in the winter by an open log fire.

There are three guest bedrooms here, all beautifully equipped with comfortable beds, luxurious cotton linens, Ila-Spa bath products and bathrobes provided. The Underhill Room is a double, the Beecham can be a single or twin, and the Rowley can be a kingsize or a twin, with the option of a further single bedroom that can be booked to accommodate one more. All rooms have private bathrooms with baths and showers.

Guests here are free to use the spacious living room as well as the dining room (where breakfast is served). When the weather permits the grounds are a delight. Three acres of landscaped grardens - including a gazebo and a tennis court - slope down to the River Stour. The peace and tranquility is perfectly enjoyed from the terrace, where afternoon tea is served in the summer months.

Your B&B Hosts

Your hosts at the Old Manor House are Jane and William Pusey. William is a barrister whose interests include history, art and travel. Jane loves gardening, tennis, art and is a Cordon Bleu cook. She also likes walking, for which she's in the right place: plenty of walks, including the Shakespeare Way, leave from the door and Jane is happy to advise where is best to go. They share the property with a super-friendly flat coated retriever. Visiting dogs are welcome but only by arrangement and there is a charge for canine guests.

This property is perfectly placed for visiting the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, Stow on the Wold, Daylesford, Cirencester, Burford, Woodstock and Broadway. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre (RSC) at Stratford is in easy reach, as are Warwick Castle and the larger towns of Gloucester, Oxford and many guests find it a very convenient base for the Cheltenham Festival. In the immediate area there are plenty of lovely villages with a selection of excellent places to eat. There are three nearby railway stations of which Banbury, with its direct link to London Marlybone, is perhaps the most useful. Birmingham Airport is 40 minutes away by car, London 90 minutes.
